We have developed a process to print your files directly
to our Web site. We notify you by phone, fax and/or email when your
Web Proof is ready. The notification will include the URL to enter
into your browser. Most email programs automatically translate the
URL into a hypertext link. You just click on the link in your email,
and your browser opens to your Web Proof. Wow! It's fast, it's easy
and it's available now, for a small service fee.
File Format
Most of the Web Proofs we furnish are in Adobes PDF format. Ocassionally we’ll supply a JPEG or other standard format. Unless we notify you otherwise, your Web Proof should open in your browser.
Trouble Viewing Your Web Proof
If you click on the Web Proof link in your Email program, and nothing happens, try copying the link and pasting it into the address bar of your browser. Be sure to wait a bit, as some PDF files take a while to load. If that doesn’t work, it's most likely
because you need to install the latest version of Adobe Reader software. You can
find what you need to do that on our File Utilities page. And you can always contact us for assistance.
Performance
You'll find your Web Proof performs better (redraws faster, scrolls faster, etc.) if you download it to your hard drive first, before you open it. Use your browser to view the proof directory (here, unless you've arranged for a secure directory, see below), locate your Web Proof, then right-click the file name to access a pop-up menu, where you’ll find a menu command that will download the file to your computer. Once the file is on your hard drive, double-click it to view it (for PDF Web Proofs, you’ll need to have Adobe Reader installed). Not only will the file perform better, but you’ll have a copy on your computer for quick access later.
Saving Your Web Proof
We regularly clean out our Web Proof directories, so it’s a good idea to save your Web Proof for future use. See above, in the Performance section, on how to do that. Alternately, in the case of PDF Web Proofs, you can use the Save button, in the Adobe Reader Plugin tool bar, to save a copy.
Security
The Web Proof directory is public. However, we can provide a private,
password protected directory should you require that. Contact us for more information about a secure directory.
Quality
Please keep in mind, the quality of a Web Proof is constrained by
the technology available from the Internet, and by your computer setup.
A Web Proof is not a substitute for industry standard proofing methods,
which we still employ and rely on for our final proofs. However,
it can sure make interim, progress proofing a real joy...
Please contact us if you have any questions
about Web Proofing!
